This is the time to take a deep breath and reflect about the future. ATPL Pilot Training — Why Begin Now?

Never have unprecedented and unexpected words made so much sense in our lives, and become one of the most frequently used in aviation. We all know that aviation has almost stopped for a while. But we know as well that it will recover with a coordinated approach.

EUROCONTROL Draft Traffic Scenarios – 24 April 2020 (base year 2019)

Chart Legend: EUROCONTROL has produced two scenarios that illustrate the possible impact of the extent to which “COVID-compliant operational procedures” for airlines and airports are common across all European States. If airlines have to comply with one set of regulations on departure and another set when the flight arrives in another state, then this will be particularly onerous on the industry.

As we can see and listen on several online forums and webinars, no aviation expert will tell you that it is easy to be in the industry today or in the next few years. But a crisis is only a crisis, it will end. Thousands of of aircraft will be crossing the sky again, and who will fly these planes if not pilots?

When should I start my Pilot Training?

Let’s check some numbers first:
Over 90% of global fleet is either parked or stored,
more than 290,000 active pilots worldwide are stuck at home with not much certainty as to when they will fly again.

For those young aviation enthusiast that live and dream to become a pilot it seems a hard time to take the step with this scenario.

Bug you don’t need to take this decision alone, you must collect all the main key facts that will help you find the answers to the most common questions arriving from all over the world.

#1 There is no ‘yes’, there is no ‘no’.

“It is a difficult time with many ifs and not too much job security. Everyone sees and knows it. However, we all also know that this industry is very dynamic and will return to the growing phase again.” — Pilot Training in the Face of a Crisis: Worth Beginning Now? Aviation Voice

Airlines will continue to hire even if it’s just to replace the pilots who will retire by age. Flight schools will continue to need qualified flight instructors which have been hard to hire in the last couple of years with the growth of sector. So there are still opportunities to take even today.

#2 A U-shaped recovery likely for air travel sector

This means that after the industry falls it will take potentially up to two years to climb back to normal. A sharp V-shaped recovery for the global air sector is unlikely given the severity of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic though a U-shaped recovery with domestic travel returning faster than international is more than probable.

IATA said the worst impact of the pandemic globally will be felt in the second quarter of this year with travel restrictions deepening the impact of recession on demand for travel, which represents 290 airlines comprising 82% of global air traffic.

In one of the latest updated analysis IATA said the pandemic will see airline passenger revenues drop by US$314bil this year, which is a 55% decline from 2019 figures.

#3 Long-term thinking strategy

Explore every opportunity that out Pilot Training could offer. Your complete course duration is from 18 to 36 months.

Is simple, if you want to become an airline pilot and decide to pick the Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) training path, it will take approximately two years to complete the entire training.

According the epidemiological experts, two years it is quite enough for the crisis to fully end, and according to aviation professionals, it is enough for the industry to be more than halfway into pre-crisis levels.

#3 Opportunity graduating in time

When the job market is reviving it might be a decision that will pay off. And do not forget the value of commitment. If you choose aviation in the face of the crisis and remain committed to your choice, this will definitely demonstrate your attitude towards aviation. To sum up, nobody will provide you with a definitive answer. There are many pros and cons, however, do your homework, assess the situation and then make a decision.
